Among the busiest streets, most annoying outdoor arguments, and constant sirens from police cars, firetrucks, and ambulances, it is imperative that we seek out a place where we can sit in the quiet time of the day. It is a special time that one has to carve out, because I'm certain that most people don't have a quiet time within a day naturally scheduled. The mind unattended to will find itself being lost to the chaos happening around it, and who wants to lost their mind at this point in Earth's history? We have to collectively value the need for silence.

Reasons We Need to be Silent

  1. Silence assists us in cleansing the brain. - There is so much stress, concern, future anticipation, and expectancy in our heads, but we leave it there to become more potent. We need the quiet times to release our concerns and recharge.

  2. Silence allows us the ability to reprogram and revitalize our thoughts. - It is when our minds are clear and no noise is heard, where we can fathom greater situations for us to be in. The spaces where a man and woman become their best selves (in my opinion) is when they communicate with the divine, and typically that is done in...you guessed it...silence. Meditation and prayer are practices done by various religious groups, and nonreligious people who seek divine enlightenment. At times soft music is played, and various spaces are used, but typically, the key ingredient for this practice is to remain silent.

  3. Silence assists us with important decisions needing to be made. If a fight is about to break out and rage is at someone's peak, a soft word can shift the mood. That said, a quiet walk around the block can also do wonders for the adrenaline coursing through the mind. Many people who learn to control their anger take quiet walks alone to clear their head.

It is a shame that some people never truly experience silence.

If you are one of those people who don't get the opportunity to go to places, and just be silent, then I have a challenge for you. It's LITERALLY for you, so don't say you'll do it if you have no intent to. Take a day that you're off work or go when you clock out of work, and find a body of water. Go to a river or an ocean, and sit there for some minutes with your eyes closed. Then, take a few really deep breathes. Watch how your body responds once you do!

Constantly seek to find time for silent moments within a day. What do you have to lose (aside from negative traits stress)?
