Smiling Despite COVID's Coffins ~

Whew...where do I even begin?

The death toll that this pandemic is taking, is leaving jaws more wide open than a 24 hour, Walgreens franchise. My heart is heavy when I think of some of the lives lost, whether personal, celebrity, and otherwise. Not every death coming to mind is one caused because of COVID, but it is shortly before and during this pandemic, that death seems an even more grave concern for many. Since this pandemic started, I haven't heard one person say, "I'm not afraid to die."

Knowing the truth of planet Earth's current reality, might I make a very strong suggestion? When you are facing the loss of someone you know (or don't know, but has impacted you) and love, celebrate their lives with all of the great memories!

No one embraces the catastrophic sting of a dying family member, or the shock of a mentor or icon who influenced them greatly, taking their last breath on their couch moments after they've gone to sleep. Yet, I can imagine the smiles we all get when we reminisce over the laughter they provided, and the kindness they've shown to others.

To die is the assumed, or understood fate of all mankind, but as the fallen sleep, I am sure they would rather us find joy in the legacy they've left behind. Remember every moment they've made you smile. Don't forget the gems they left you while alive! Know that going forward is the only way they'd want you to go!

A lady known in my church as Sis. Mentore recently passed; I am feeling her absence already. I have countless memories of the smiles she had planted on her face; when I greeted her, while she spoke to me, and even when I walked away from a short conversation ended. It was as if stepping beside her automatically activated a sequence of internal events, which eased away whatever sadness and concern I had. She was that powerful with the usage of her smile alone. In my mind, her memory will be filled with moments that can only make me do just that...smile.

Death creates an atmosphere of gloom that captivates and traps the heart and mind. I need you to heal after you mourn! Relinquish the pain as best you can...safely, and smile while celebrating the lives of those who're now gone.

I love you all!
