Here we are everyone...JANUARY 2022!!! Can you believe it? We're still alive in this cesspool of madness that we call a planet, and somehow, some people have avoided catching "that thang." Trust me, you do not wanna catch that thang! The COVID-19 virus has (supposedly) taken on a new form, due to the newly learned, Omicron variant! Do you truly believe things will get any easier sooner than later? I don't know where your faith lies, but I will say this; please remember to be safe, and don't let fear take your mind over.

Now on to the subject at hand. This is a question I'm sure many people may be pondering on now, because this will remain a concern to hearts wanting this specific connection.

What will dating look like as the pandemic continues, and these COVID variants proceed in introducing themselves? Are these variants real, or are they the same COVID flu inflated by media "pizzazz?" Who truly knows right? I've seen some things, but personal/individual research must be done in order to satisfy our curiosities and concerns. I do not have the answers by any means, but there are some elements I feel everyone MUST be attentive to in this lingering, sickly season.

Respect

Social distancing obviously should be considered to the extent it can be, but regardless of such, we should respect the boundaries someone has set up while dating. Some people are comfortable not having masks on, while others aren't. Some may be open to touch still, but a number of people want the distance to remain. No matter the choices, there must be a level of basic respect given. Surely, a lack of respect will produce an obvious and stern outcome.

Consistency

This is a definite tell all, and so many people don't even recognize that yet. How frequently you forget to put your mask on while moving around the venue, will tell of your level of consideration for your date. If you're truly not watching what you touch and aren't mindful of your necessary precautions,

Balance: Speaking & Listening

That part on consideration STRONGLY applies here!! Truthfully, this isn't even necessarily a COVID concern. Take time to talk, and then HUSH! While you're done talking, allow the other person to speak and pay attention as they're speaking. Isn't the goal to learn the other person? Why do some folk insist on talking until the restaurant closes, without giving their date an opportunity to speak? That's just freakin' rude, isn't it? Sharing is caring...even in dialogue.

Perception

So guess what? I have some disturbing news (for some), but for others this should be realistic. Ready for the news? If not...you'll be fine; don't be too concerned. Ahem....YOU AREN'T BETTER THAN ANYBODY, and NO ONE IS BETTER THAN YOU!! I genuinely hope that this concept is clear, because honestly, some people's egos are just too high for the dating scenario. If you sit down at a table with a man/woman, and you feel as though they're beneath you, then you simply shouldn't be at that table. Be confident! Confidence is key and certainly not the problem, but you should be humble as well. I'm not sure who told you what, but arrogance in the dating scene just doesn't work. LEAVE! Don't make contact anymore either; you've got to shift your perspective of yourself and others first.

So to conclude this rant of mine...

Know that we're already going through enough, and there's quite a substantial amount of importance to consider, as we seek to swim in the dating pool. To be quite Frank, it's already a murky space to be found in, and the clean spots aren't as plentiful as the dirty areas we all can see. The dating pool may as well have camel urine in it. Be intentional about protecting yourself and others! Be respectful of your date's wishes. Be considerate at all times, and ensure that you value yourself and your date. We can make this a beautiful experience, even while COVID has a choke hold on human interaction. That's all folks!! Please exit with confidence, hope, and a heart that can visualize a romantically fulfilling future!
